Assessing Income-Generating Property
PVSC collects and analyzes income and expense information from income-generating properties like hotels, apartment buildings and shopping malls to determine the value of those individual properties and other similar properties.
Requests for income and expense data are mailed to income-producing property owners every February. Under Section 21 of the Nova Scotia Assessment Act, you are required to return the requested information to PVSC within 30 days of receiving this request.
Under Section 23 of the Nova Scotia Assessment Act, you will lose the right to appeal your assessment if you fail to return the requested information within that time. You will also lose the right to appeal if you submit a reply that does not contain the requested information or contains statements like “same as last year”.
If you did not receive a request for income and expense information in the mail but believe that you should have, please contact PVSC.
Income and Expense forms can be submitted online or by mail, fax or email. If you need help selecting the correct form or completing a form, please refer to the Guides or contact PVSC.
Income and Expense information submitted to PVSC is confidential, except as required by law.
