Nova Scotia Assessment Appeal Tribunal

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your appeal during the assessor review stage you have the option to continue your appeal with the Nova Scotia Assessment Appeal Tribunal. This independent third party tribunal provides you (the property owner) and the PVSC an important means to resolve ongoing disputes.

The Nova Scotia Assessment Appeal Tribunal has the authority to consider and make a ruling on items such as:

  • Name of person assessed

The Tribunal is administered by the Province of Nova Scotia (Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations). Members of the Tribunal are appointed, trained and paid by the Province of Nova Scotia.

  • A hearing of the Tribunal is an informal hearing attended by the PVSC Assessor, a Tribunal member and you, the property owner.
  • The Tribunal schedules hearings for continued appeals throughout the year, with the majority of appeals being heard between April and September.
