Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC) is responsible for assessing all property in Nova Scotia. Every property is reassessed on an annual basis, and for income producing properties the reassessment process includes the collection and analysis of the income and expenses associated with the property. This information is used to assist PVSC in determining the value of both your property and properties of a similar type.
As part of PVSC’s statutory mandate, we will be requesting income and expense information in February. A letter with this request and more information will be mailed to you.
To provide us with the income and expense information for your property you can:
Fill out and submit the Income and Expense Online Form. Entering the Assessment Account Number (AAN) and PIN Number automatically generates the correct form for your property.
Download and complete the correct printable form for your property and return it to us via the address, fax or email indicated on the form.
The information you provide is held in strict confidence, except as required by law.
Pursuant to Section 21 of the Assessment Act, you are required to return this information within 30 days of receipt of the Income and Expense Request you received via signature service mail delivery. Pursuant to Section 23 of the Act, failure to do so will result in the loss of your right to appeal your assessment. Replies which are submitted but do not contain the actual information requested may also result in the loss of a right of appeal. In addition, please note that replies in the nature of “same as last year” do not satisfy this annual requirement.
If you did not receive an income and expense questionnaire in the mail and believe you should be required to provide this type of information, please contact PVSC at 1-800-380-7775.
