A. PIN Access Number stands for Personal Identification Number. It is a number issued to identify you as the property owner. This allows us to provide specific information to you and only you, about your property assessment.

Q. Where do I find my PIN Access Number?

A. The PIN Access Number is printed on your 2012 assessment notice, immediately below your Assessment Number.

Q. Do I need a PIN Access Number?

A. Your PIN Access Number  is unique to your account and makes it possible for us to provide you, and only you, with detailed information about your property. You will need your PIN Access Number and your Assessment Number to access your information through the Online Property Information web site.

A. Your PIN Access Number is printed on your 2012 assessment notice. If you do not have your notice available, please contact us.

Getting Started:

You do NOT need a PIN Access Number to look-up the assessment values of properties across Nova Scotia. The detailed information you get in your “My Assessment” report is not available for other properties.

Q. If I own more than one property, will I receive more than one PIN Access Number?

A. Yes. Each property assessment notice you receive will have a unique PIN Access Number that you must use to access information on the specific property.

Q. Why are PIN Access Number numbers provided to residential property owners only?

A. Most of the inquiries we receive from property owners are inquiries about their residential properties. The ‘My Assessment Report’ was developed to provide this information through our web site. Please contact us if you would like information on your non-residential property.

Q. What do I do if I did not receive, lose or forget my PIN Access Number?

A. The PIN Access Number is printed on the top right hand corner of your assessment notice under your assessment account number. If you do not have access to this, contact us.

Q. Does my PIN Access Number expire?

A. Yes. Your PIN Access Number is changed each year when a new notice is printed.

Q, Why are changes made to my account recently not showing on “My Assessment Report”?

The “My Assessment Report” reflects the information we have on your account at the time the assessment roll was finalized. Therefore there can be a 1 month – 3 month difference in the information shown in the report. If you would like to confirm changes or have questions, please contact us.

Example: The January 2012 notice and the “My Assessment Report”

The information printed on your 2012 notice and given in the corresponding “My Assessment Report” is based on market value as of January 1, 2010 and reflects the physical state of your property as of December 2011. Any changes to your property or account information after December 2011 will NOT be reflected in the report.
